Wey Valley Chess is the umbrella organisation for primary school chess in Surrey. It was set up in 1976 in the Weybridge area, hence the name, but it rapidly spread throughout Surrey. It now represents primary school aged children from state and private schools in Surrey (and some neighbouring London Boroughs that now cover areas of historic Surrey) that have no primary chess organisations themselves.

Wey Valley has 3rd place in the Audio Chess Grand Prix after a very exciting U9 Final tournament. The quality of play in the top teams was even better than in 2008 and our players met their match and had some very instructive games. They finally secured 3rd = place overall, winning the individual trophies on tie break from Barnet.
